Tools: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Wacom Intuos3 Size: 1680 x 1050 pixels Year: 2008 Brushes: idleman of DeviantArt and bittbox.com
This is a digital drawing of a Gibson Les Paul. I did the guitar in a vector style. The guitar and the background were drawn in Adobe Illustrator (the background was done with a Wacom pen and tablet), some color on the guitar was added in Illustrator, and the rest of the color was done in Photoshop.
The basis for this piece was my other two drawings of Les Paul guitars in my gallery. Both were done traditionally, and I thought it was something that would work well digitally, so I gave it a try. In addition to my own previous works, this piece was also inspired by a piece by Deviant Art user eastcoastsurfer12 called "Old School." Thanks to him, as well as Guitar Lesson World for the Les Paul picture. I also used brushes from Deviant Art user idleman and the Bittbox website, so thanks to both of them.
The full size is 1680 x 1050 pixels, but I don't have it full size on here currently. If there are any wallpaper requests, I can try to put the full size version up.
Thanks. I don't know a lot about vectoring, but I drew the guitar by tracing a photo with the pen tool in Illustrator. I think think/assume that's the common way to do it, but I'm not sure.
I drew the background lines in Illustrator with my Wacom using some brushes I downloaded. The glow effect is from blending options in the layer tab on Photoshop, just click the fx button at the bottom. I used outer glow and color or gradient overlay for many of the background details.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
